Question 1.
Read the lines in which the following phrases occur. Then discuss with your partner the meaning of each phrase in its context.
(i) velvet grass
(ii) drinking straws
(iii) meadow houses
(iv) amazing mound
(v) fuzzy head.

Answer:
(i) The meadows are covered in velvet grass, which is extremely comfortable to stroll on.
(ii) The butterfly has lengthy proboscis that it uses to sucking nectar.
(iii) Meadow home refers to an open grassy area where species such as rabbits, snakes, ants, and others build burrows or mounds.
(iv) Mound refers to a small hill. Ants have gathered earth particles to form a beautiful mound.
(v) Fuzzy head refers to the fluffy tuft of dandelion that floats in the air

Question 2.
Which line in the poem suggests that you need a keen eye and a sharp ear to enjoy a meadow ? Read aloud the stanza that contains this line.

The answer is "If you look and listen well." The verse is provided below for you to read aloud: Oh! Meadows have many surprises and stories to tell; if you look and listen carefully, you may find these for yourself.
