The author then traveled for more than a year after that. When he returned, he went to Mr. Gessler's shop and placed a variety of footwear orders.
The author made the decision to see Mr. Gessler and express his gratitude for his assistance after getting his directives. When he arrived, the name of the shoemaker was not displayed on the storefront. He soon learned that Mr. Gessler had died of malnutrition from the new owner.
