The Invention of Vita Wonk Working with the text
Question 1.
What trees does Mr. Wonka mention ?
(i) Which tree does he say lives the longest ?
(ii) How long does this tree live ? Where can you find it?
Answer:
(i) Mr. Wonks cites the Bristlecone pine, oak, and Douglas fir trees. He claims that the Bristlecone Pine tree has the longest lifespan.
(ii) Bristlecone pine trees have a lifespan of more than 4,000 years. In Nevada, USA, on the slopes of Wheeler Peak, is where you may find this tree.
Question 2.
How many of the oldest living things can you remember from Mr. Wonka’s list ? (Don’t look back at the story !) Do you think all these things really exist, or are some of them purely imaginary?
Answer:
The earliest living organisms are listed in great detail by Mr. Wonka. It is challenging to keep all of these things in mind. A pint of sap from a 4,000-year-old Bristlecone Pine, an egg hatched by a 200-year-old Tortoise, the tail of a 51-year-old Arabian horse, the tail of a 207-year-old huge rat from Tibet, and the knuckles of a 700-year-old Cattaloo from Peru are just a few of them that come to mind. All of these things might not be true, in my opinion. Some of them appear to be pure fantasy.
Question 3.
Why does Mr. Wonka collect items from the oldest things? Do you think this is the right way to begin his invention?
Answer:
Mr. Wonka wanted the objects in his creation to age. He gathers artifacts from the oldest living things because of this. This, in my opinion, is the proper method to introduce his idea. Also, it produced fruitful outcomes for him.
Question 4.
What happens to the volunteer who swallows four drops of the new invention ? What is the name of the invention?
Answer:
The volunteer starts to shrivel up and wrinkle after ingesting the drops. His hair begins to fall off. He abruptly ages to be a 75-year-old man. Vita-Wonk is the name of this creation.

The Invention of Vita Wonk Writing

Answer:
For self-attempt. You can consult an encyclopaedia in your school library. You may also seek help of your botany teacher in this respect.
Question 2.
Find out something interesting about age, or growing old, and write a paragraph about it. Following are a few topics, suggested as examples.
The age profile of a country’s population–does it have more young people than old people, or vice versa? What are the consequences of this?
How can we tell how old a tree, a horse, or a rock is ?
What is the ‘life expectancy’ of various living things, and various populations (how long can they reasonably expect to live)?
Answer:
Whether a country has a youthful or old majority affects its age distribution. The effectiveness and growth of the nation rely on how many young people there are in it. If the elderly make up the majority of the population, then additional medical facilities, pension benefits, and age-old security programs are needed. The average lifespan has grown as a result of contemporary, improved medical services. Because of this, the proportion of senior persons is higher currently. Therefore, the number of unemployed persons rises. Scientists are aware that carbon is a component of all living things, including trees, animals, rocks, and so on. Radio-carbon isotope dating is a method that allows us to determine the age of a certain specimen.
